Global venue and events management group GL events has achieved ESSA Sustainability Accreditation (at Tier 4 of 5).

The Event Supplier and Services Association (ESSA) Sustainability Accreditation is an evidence focused, points based standard, the criteria for which has been delivered in collaboration with the ESSA Sustainability Working Group, and the Cross-Association Sustainability Working Group.

The accreditation aligns with current industry standards, cross-association commitments, the net-zero events initiative, and ISO standards like 140001 and 20121 (to which GL events UK is already certified).

GL events UK CEO Scott Jameson said, “As a UK business, we have been working hard to understand, map and communicate on the environmental impact of our operations – creating a reliable benchmark from which to focus on minimising emissions in key areas, across all three scopes.

“While reducing the emissions of our depots and internal business is obviously vital, and our roadmap to Zero is clear, we are excited to be able to increasingly offer additional value, in sustainability terms, to our clients through future initiatives. We are also committed to working with the cream of our supply chain, as sustainability partners, to drive even greater sustainable value through project delivery.”

GL events was recently an official partner and overlay (installation of temporary infrastructure) supplier for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
