Promoter From The Fields is set to extend its Northern Lights event series to Leicester on the back of more than one million tickets having been sold for its seasonal light trails.
The Manchester-based company, founded in 2006 by Andy Smith and Ben Robinson, runs large-scale events including the Kendal Calling (cap. 40,000) festival and Bournemouth’s Arts by the Sea. It has enjoyed success with seasonal events including Christmas at Bute Park in Cardiff, and its Northern Lights events in Newcastle, Manchester and Leeds.
The promoter said it expects its first edition of Northern Lights at Abbey Park in Leicester to attract over 70,000 visitors. Drawing expertise from the art and lighting aspects of its Kendal Calling and Blue Dot festivals, From The Fields debuted its light trail concept with Christmas at Bute Park in 2021. The promoter said that since then, its light trail brands have sold more than one million tickets and raised in excess of £350,000 for charities. Across all its trails, From The Fields said it expects to sell more than half a million tickets this year.
“It’s a real privilege to be adding such an incredible location to our Northern Lights portfolio, with a brand new trail surrounded by history and heritage in the heart of Leicester,” said Robinson. “We’ve got grand plans for Abbey Park and we can’t wait to welcome everyone of all ages and backgrounds together to explore our most immersive light trail experience yet. It’ll be a fitting celebration of another busy year for From The Fields with four other light trails illuminating landmarks up and down the country and Kendal Calling marking an unbelievable 21 sold-out years this July.”
