On 16 May, venue-finding website Hire Space will launch its crowdfunding campaign in the hope of raising a total of £500,000.

The campaign has already received support from venues and events professionals and aims to encourage a community of event professionals to help guide its future.

Edward Poland, COO and co-founder of Hire Space, said: “The collaborative nature of crowdfunding lends itself perfectly to our mission. The most important part of this campaign to us is creating a community of like-minded professionals who want a stake in what we see as the future of events.

“The events industry is full of talented, creative individuals who have great ideas and vision and this process will allow us to connect more closely with our users and the industry as a whole.”

The new shareholders will join Hire Space’s existing backers, which include Karen Hanton MBE, founded or TopTable.

Glenn Mainwaring, corporate sales manager at The Barbican, said: “We love Hire Space at The Barbican, it’s very quickly become an indispensable marketing channel and it’s great to see it go from strength to strength.”
