Live Nation GSA has cancelled the second edition of Download Germany (cap. 111,000), citing production issues resulting from this year’s busy summer season.

The festival, which was expanded to two days, was due to take place from 23-24 June at the Hockenheimring, with a lineup including Slipknot, Volbeat, The Prodigy and Within Temptation.

Live Nation said all tickets already purchased will be automatically refunded by its ticketing platform Ticketmaster in the next few days.

The promoter said in a statement, “The massive number of open-air events this summer makes organisation and implementation considerably more difficult, despite the first-class line-up. Unfortunately, the associated production-related obstacles proved to be insurmountable.”

The expanded UK edition of Download, which takes place from 8-11 June, will sell out this year for the first time in the event’s two-decade history, according to promoter Andy Copping.
