Max SteventonManchester’s Co-op Live arena (cap. 23,500) will host the city’s first ever National Basketball Association (NBA) regular season game in 2027. A move which Co-op Live describe as “a monumental moment for the city, the venue and UK sport.”
While 2027 will mark the first regular season NBA game in Manchester, the city previously hosted an exhibition game in 2013 – making it the first NBA team to play there for 14 years.
Manchester is already a prominent player in UK basketball. The city is home to the headquarters of Basketball England, in Etihad Campus, and has recently invested heavily in the sport including three major outdoor courts and the National Basketball Performance Centre.
Hosting an NBA regular season game will add to Co-op Live’s record of attracting international talent, following performances by major global artists including Drake. The event reflects the arena’s role as a venue capable of accommodating large-scale events across music and sport.
