The UK’s largest independent heavy metal festival, Bloodstock Open Air (cap. 20,000) has taken the unprecedented step of enabling attendees to pre-book particular camping spaces.

The Derbyshire event, headed by director Vicky Hungerford as part of the family-run Amust4music, is offering ticket buyers the option of reserving camping pitches in advance of arrival.

Organisers said the reservation system will be launched on 6 May, enabling attendees to book up to five camping pitches. At the Catton Park site, pitches will be marked with a matching letter and number grid system.

Pitches are priced in three tiers, and for every five spaces pre-booked, a gazebo space can be added for an additional £10. Campers will also have the option of having their tents decorated for them, with themes including birthday, romantic and goth.

Campers will also have the option of booking the premium ‘The Geezer Experience’. Named after Black Sabbath’s Geezer Butler, the initiative will enable attendees to enjoy the services of a butler that can be booked for a single day or the entire event. Via an ‘AirTagged Butler Buzzer’, campers will be able to make requests for food, drinks, and merchandise delivery.

Bloodstock will continue to offer non-reserved camping.
