Applications are now open for artists, organisations and creatives to contribute to the 10th edition of Arts by the Sea. The festival is Bournemouth’s annual celebration of art, culture, people and place.

Creating funding opportunities to help artists and creatives have their ideas realised is an integral part of the festival, so funding streams of £5,000 will be allocated for exceptional, outdoor commissions, and a selection of projects costing up to £500 will also be supported at the event.

Anyone in the UK is eligible to apply, but Arts by the Sea is particularly interested in receiving applications from those based in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole. The festival is looking for any kinds of art, from art installations, performance (including music and film screenings), active and fitness-based events to sustainability-focused activities and crafts and making workshops.

Festival director and cultural development management at BCP Council, Andrea Francis said: “We value emerging and established artists and the high-quality work that can make a strong impact on our audience and our town. We support artistic work that is relevant, connects with, and is meaningful to, our audience. Anybody residing in the UK is eligible to apply, but we will prioritise applications from those who are based locally in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole. We also welcome applications from the surrounding region of Dorset. Arts by the Sea is committed to promoting equality and diversity across our programme and we actively encourage applications from artists of any ethnicity, gender and irrespective of any disability.”

In 2019, over 100,000 attendees visited Bournemouth town centre to experience a programme featuring over 100 performances, workshops and exhibitions.

Those who want to apply should do so by 30 March 2020 by clicking here. Successful applicants for the 2020 funding will be announced on and after 15th April 2020.
