Attitude is Everything (AiE) has announced its inaugural Outstanding Attitude Awards, rewarding innovation in making live music and outdoor arts accessible for deaf and disabled audiences.

The new initiative aims to highlight the most forward-looking venues, festivals and music events in the UK. The awards are open to the 120-plus venues and festivals signed up to AiE’s Charter of Best Practice, or to those who plan to sign up in the next 12 months.

“We want to shine a light on the most creative, most interesting and most envelope-pushing examples of access provision – and look forward to celebrating the best of the best in just over two month’s time.”

Judges – including Mark Butler (Roundhouse), Paul Reed (Association of Independent Festivals), James Hanley (Music Week) and Hannah McKearnen (Attitude is Everything volunteer) – will be looking at entrants who have made use of cutting-edge technologies, incorporated innovative design techniques and ensured provisions for disabled fans are embedded into the fabric of their events.

Nominations are open now and will close on 21 October, with the winner announced on 21 November.
