Miami-based electronic music artist Eddy Palermo set a Guinness World Record on 8 August becoming the first person to run an ultramarathon while DJing live.

The event, called BPMATHON, took place at The Underline, a 10-mile linear park in Miami running from Brickell to Dadeland. Palermo ran 46.7 kilometers while DJing continuously for eight hours. He returned the following day to complete the remaining distance on a treadmill, reaching a total of 50 kilometers.

Palermo used a custom-built, self-pushed DJ rig on wheels to run and perform simultaneously. The setup included AlphaTheta’s OMNIS DUO controller, and WAVE EIGHT speakers provided audio for spectators at the park. The event was live-streamed.

Palermo was born in Miami to Cuban and Italian parents and raised in Weston, Florida. Between 2020 and 2025 he completed 14 endurance races, including seven Ironman competitions and seven marathons.

BPMATHON raised money for Friends of The Underline, a Miami nonprofit focused on public space and outdoor activity.

Palemero said, “That was a wild ride. That was the longest DJ set I’ve ever played, and the 2nd longest run in my life. Doing both at the same time is hard to describe. Not to mention this was peak Miami summer heat and I pushed a 70lb cart the whole time. Sometimes I was deep in the pain cave and would go ‘Oh no…I have to DJ right now’ as the song was ending.”
