Manchester City Football Club has revealed details of a new 3,000-capacity entertainment venue set to open this year.

The Medlock Square venue is expected to host sports and music events, brand activations and seasonal shows. The facility is part of Manchester City’s £300 million expansion of the Etihad Campus in East Manchester that will include a new 401-bedroom hotel and three-storey office One Medlock Square.

Located between the Etihad Stadium and Co-op Live, Medlock Square is named after the River Medlock, which runs beneath the site. The venue’s owners and developers said it has been designed to accommodate both everyday visitors and major event audiences.

Visitor attractions at Medlock Square are set to include a ‘sky walk experience’, offering views across Manchester’s skyline, alongside zip-wire and abseiling facilities, aloing with an ‘immersive’ Manchester City museum experience.

Since it opened in 2024, the 23,500-capacity Co-op Live, operated by Oak View Group, has proven a huge success. On 28 February it hosted the BRIT Awards, marking the first time the event has been staged in Manchester. On 26 March, the arena will host the MOBO Awards, Europe’s largest awards for Black music and culture, which has never before been staged in the city.
