Max SteventonLegends Global has confirmed plans to invest up to £65 million in the redevelopment of Utilita Arena Newcastle.
The project is part of a broader investment programme by the venue management and sports giant, which is expected to exceed £200 million across several major UK arenas. Other venues included in the programme are OVO Arena Wembley, Utilita Arena Sheffield and AO Arena Manchester.
According to Legends Global, the Newcastle project will focus on modernising infrastructure and upgrading facilities across the building. The plans include a proposed capacity increase of around 20%, alongside improvements to audience areas, hospitality spaces and backstage facilities.
A new mezzanine level is planned, featuring premium lounges and a separate VIP entrance. Technology upgrades are also expected to be introduced throughout the venue, with the aim of improving sound quality and operational efficiency.
Construction work is scheduled to begin this year, with additional phases planned for 2027. The arena will continue hosting events during the redevelopment period.
Utilita Arena recorded more than 100 event dates in 2025, including concerts and televised events. A range of live shows and sporting events have already been announced for 2026.
