Staging, structures and rigging provider Star Events is providing technical and infrastructure expertise to Hull 2017 in preparation for the city’s year as UK City of Culture.

Hull, which was named next year’s UK City of Culture in 2013, has just unveiled the first season of its 365-day, £32m programme of events.

The city has announced a wide range of events including a celebration of possibly Hull’s most well-known musical export, the Spiders From Mars, and Hull Fair. To see the full programme, visit the Hull 2017 website.

Among the events Star has assisted with was the Places des Anges, an aerial spectacular that attracted 10,000 people to the city centre in July 2016.

Roger Barrett, special projects director at Star Events, commented: “We are delighted to have been able to offer support to Hull 2017, bringing our knowledge and expertise of working on major events as they prepare for this massively important year for the city.”

Chris Clay, technical and operations director for Hull 2017, added: “Star Events’ experience of delivering major events has been invaluable in both staging this summer’s Place des Anges and developing our future plans for the Hull 2017 programme.”
