Twickenham Stadium (cap. 82,000) is to be transformed into a temporary nine-hole golf course this summer, and host around 7,000 players, as part of a new golf tour.

Promoted and produced by US-based Stadium Golf Tour and sports marketing agency Maverick Sports + Entertainment, the tour will visit Twickenham on 8-11 June, and include five other stadia yet to be announced.

Twickenham will be the home of a golf course with each tee box situated on specially constructed platforms situated around the stadium bowl. Players will hit shots onto the related green situated on the pitch.

In addition to the nine hole course, golfers will receive access to The Clubhouse restaurant, and booking options will offer access to golf simulators, a putting and chipping challenge, hitting platform and tours of the England changing rooms. The stadium is also building additional hospitality packages into the experience.

Twickenham Experience managing director Nils Braude said, “This is an incredible partnership, which will turn an 82,000-seater stadium into a visionary, powerful and exciting golf course.

“We’re delighted to form a pivotal role in such an innovative tour. Everyone at Twickenham will make sure we play our part by offering great hospitality and experience to every one of the golfers that comes and plays at the home of England Rugby.”

Stadium Golf Tour president Michael Wiggins said, “We wanted to kick off the UK Tour by going to some amazing stadiums with great fan bases. So Twickenham Stadium is right on top of the list.”
