The UK Crowd Management Association (UKCMA) will host the webinar Martyn’s Law: Prepared, Not Scared on 10 June, with questions answered by the Home Office and the Security Industry Association (SIA).
Running from 09:30 to 11:00, the webinar is designed to educate and encourage discussion on Martyn’s Law, the UK legislation intended to require certain public venues and events to take steps to improve security and preparedness against terrorist attacks.
The webinar will include a 60-minute panel discussion, providing participants with direct access to the two bodies at the centre of both the legislation and its regulation; the Home Office and the SIA, with representatives responding directly to questions submitted by attendees at the point of registration.
This will be followed by a 30-minute presentation from the SIA focused on the consultation process relating to the draft statutory guidance.
UKCMA chair Annie Marie Chebib said, “As the journey toward implementing Martyn’s Law gathers pace, clarity and collaboration are paramount. This webinar brings the Home Office and the SIA into direct conversation with the sector, giving operators the practical insight they need to prepare with confidence.”
The webinar comes as the Home Office has published guidance and the SIA continues consultation on draft Section 12 statutory guidance. It is positioned as part of ongoing preparations for implementation of Martyn’s Law.
“Our message is simple, be prepared, not scared,” said Chebib. “By engaging now, asking questions, understanding emerging requirements and sharing good practice, we can strengthen public safety while supporting a vibrant and resilient live events industry.”
