London is launching a bid to host WorldPride 2032, a global event focused on the LGBTQIA+ community.

The bid is being led by Pride in London, operators of London venue Outernet (pictured) and UK Black Pride as co-chairs of the committee, alongside the Mayor of London, Tripadvisor and media partners The Independent and The Standard.

WorldPride is an international LGBTQIA+ event held every two years in a different host city. London previously hosted the event in 2012 and would become the first city to host it for a second time if its 2032 bid is successful. The proposed London 2032 edition would coincide with the 60th anniversary of London’s first Pride march.

Tripadvisor has committed £1 million of marketing support if the London bid is successful.

Members of the LGBTQIA+ community will contribute to the campaign’s visual identity through a logo design competition and a global photography project. If the city is selected to host WorldPride, the winning design will become the event’s official logo. A separate photography campaign is also inviting Pride communities around the world to submit images that will be combined into a mosaic based on the selected design.

“Pride has always been powered by community,” said Pride in London interim CEO Rebecca Paisis. “As we launch London’s bid for WorldPride 2032, we want our community to help shape its future from day one. We’re looking for bold, inspiring designs that capture London’s unique spirit and photographs that celebrate Pride in all its forms across the world. As we approach the 60th anniversary of London’s first Pride march, this project gives every generation an opportunity to leave their mark on what could become one of the defining moments in our movement’s history.”

Outernet London CEO Philip O’Ferrall said, “This (the logo) is about creating something that reflects the richness, diversity and creativity of our global community. If London is successful, millions of people will engage with this logo over the course of WorldPride, including experiencing the immersive story of the campaign on Outernet’s screens. Every photograph submitted and every creative contribution will become part of that shared story.”
