Christopher BarrettFestival Republic has signed a 20-year lease with the owners of Latitude Festival’s Suffolk site.
The home to the festival since it was launched 20 years ago, the Henham Park estate is set to host the 40,000-capacity event for a further two decades.
Announcing the deal with estate owners the Rous family, on the back of a successful 20th anniversary edition that involved headliners David Byrne, Teddy Swims and Lewis Capaldi, Festival Republic MD Melvin Benn said he was delighted to commit to a further two decades at Henham Park: “It is part of what Latitude is. The lake, the woods, the parkland. You cannot separate the festival from the place. From our first year in 2006, when 4,500 people came through the gates, to this weekend’s celebrations, the estate has shaped everything we do.”
“Latitude has very much enabled us to continue the restoration and care of Henham Park which is not only my life’s work, but the work of generations before and after,” said Hektor Rous.
The announcement was coupled with the launch of a Latitude Festival loyalty scheme offering anyone who has attended any of Latitude’s 20 editions the opportunity to register for the initiative that offers savings of up to £50 per adult ticket depending on how many years they have attended Latitude.
To mark the 20th anniversary of Latitude Festival, founder Melvin Benn and arts programmer Kirsty Taylor spoke to Access All Areas about its ongoing evolution, and the artists, staff and suppliers who have played key roles in helping to bring the event to life.
