Max SteventonAs Storm Floris causes disruption in the north of England, Northern Ireland and Scotland, many live events have been forced to cancel their shows.
Events in Edinburgh have been hit the hardest as Scotland has seen winds in excess of 80mph causing major travel disruption.
The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, a military showcase, has had to cancel its event for the first time in its 75-year history (4 August). In a statement, Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo said they had to cancel “due to adverse weather warnings across Scotland.”
Several events as part of Edinburgh Fringe Festival were also cancelled. All 72 Pleasance on the Green shows have been called off due to the weather. Outdoor shows cancelled include Always Win, Benny Shakes and Shame Show.
Princes Street Garden has closed meaning all events held there as part of Edinburgh International Festival have also been forced to batten down the hatches.
In a statement, Edinburgh Fringe said, “The Met Office has a current Amber weather warning for Scotland’s Central Belt, and as such there might be some disruption within Edinburgh. As this is a unique weather event in August, things may shift throughout the day and we encourage you to follow our social media channels for any new updates.
“The Fringe Street Events take place outdoors and today (4 August) there will be no activity at The Mound, including the Innis & Gunn bar. The Street Events programme on the High Street (Royal Mile) is currently scheduled to take place.”
