Edition Capital Limited has acquired Sebastian Mclean International Limited (SMI); a specialist insurance brokerage serving the entertainment sector.

Edition said its purchase of SMI, which delivers bespoke insurance solutions to a range of major entertainment industry clients ranging from BAFTA to Hungary’s Sziget Festival (cap. 95,000), will enable it to expand its offering by integrating specialist insurance brokerage into its existing suite of venture capital investment, corporate finance, and advisory services.

Collectively, Edition’s partners have more than 80 years’ experience in the entertainment industry, including the management of major entertainment businesses such as 19 Entertainment, Cream Group, Superstruct Entertainment and Impresario Festivals. To date, the team has raised and deployed more than £500 million of capital across the sector.

Recent investments made by Edition include Mainstage Festivals (Snowboxx Festival and Kala Festival), Assembled Gala (Gala and Rally festivals), immersive experience production company Little Lion Entertainment and F&B venue operators Incipio Group.

SMI founder & CEO Mark Owen said, “SMI could not have found a better home than within the Edition Capital Group. We are thrilled to join a company that shares our dedication to delivering industry-leading services to the entertainment sector.”

Harry Heartfield, co-founder and senior partner of Edition, added, “This acquisition marks an exciting new chapter for Edition as we continue to expand our services and bring new businesses into our group.”
