The latest episode of the Access All Areas Backstage podcast series finds Marcus Brigstoke and Brett Vincent discussing the many highs, and occasional lows, involved in staging the AAA Award-winning Altitude Comedy Festival.

A stunning mix of beautiful mountain scenery with crazy downhill and brilliant comedy action from the likes of Jason Byrne, Paul Smith, Deirdre O’Kane, Emmanuel Sonubi and Al Murray – Altitude Festival took place from 30 March to 3 April in Mayrhofen, Austria.

In between the knockout standup comedy and knockdown slope descents, we recorded an episode of the AAA Backstage Podcast with its promoter Brett Vincent and its co-founder, comedian, Marcus Brigstocke.

Among the many topics covered were the logistics of staging the Clown Hill ski and snowboard race involving both fans and comedians, getting huge stars such as Al Murray and Paul Smith to play intimate venues in and around the mountains, the camaraderie between everyone involved on both sides of the stage, and how the festival team’s work to keep the event fresh has included setting fire to the high street and hosting drum and bass pool parties.

Filmed in the Zillertal Valley town between the striking Penken and Ahorn mountains, the conversation is available to watch on Youtube below, and as with all episodes in the Backstage Podcast series, you can go audio-only via all the main podcast platforms including SpotifyApple and Amazon.
