The UK’s largest arena, Co-op Live, is to host a ‘watch party’ for England’s FIFA World Cup quarter-final against Norway.

Following England’s 3–2 victory over Mexico this morning, 6 July, Oak View Group (OVG) announced that its 23,500-capacity Manchester venue will open for a mass screening of the team’s next match on Saturday, 11July from 8pm. The match is scheduled to kick off at 10pm (BST) in Miami, Florida.

OVG said that Vertu Place, Co-op Live’s huge ground floor fan activation space, will be transformed into Manchester’s ultimate World Cup fan zone, bringing supporters together to experience the action on Co-op Live’s 23-metre 4K HD screen: “With live entertainment, pre-match build-up and an electric atmosphere inspired by the UK’s biggest live events, fans can cheer on England from first whistle to last as hopes grow that it’s finally coming home.”

The venue operator said it will programme entertainment including live music, DJs, and pre-match warmup fan engagement. Food and drink will be made available.

In April, OVG hired former Melbourne & Olympic Parks director of venues Shane Mates as venue director of Co-op Live.
