AEG Presents has appointed Robbie Powell as the inaugural GM of its new West London venue British Airways ARC.
The 3,800-capacity, purpose-built, live music and events venue will open on 16 June. Self Esteem is scheduled to perform on the venue’s opening night, and 17 June. McFly will perform on 18 June, followed by Zac Brown Band on 25 June.
Operated by AEG Presents UK, the venue forms part of the £1.3 billion transformation of Olympia London.
Powell will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of British Airways ARC, including overseeing and setting the booking strategy. He will report to AEG Presents SVP UK venues Lucy Noble.
He joins AEG with more than 15 years of experience working in venue and festival operations. Previous roles include theatre director at New Wimbledon Theatre, venue manager at Barbican Centre and GM at the Fortune Theatre in London’s West End.
“At British Airways ARC our ambition is to elevate the live music experience for both artists and audiences, creating a truly inclusive and thrilling environment for every person who comes to a show,” he said.
Noble added, “Robbie has the track record and the love of the live experience that makes him perfect for this role. We all welcome him as we move closer to opening and I’m proud of the team we have been building that Robbie now joins.”
