Max SteventonCo-op Live arena (cap 23,500), operated by the Oak View Group, has been certified A Greener Arena.
Following a year-long assessment carried out by sustainability consultancy A Greener Future (AGF), the venue has been given highly commended status, with AGF recognising that its team had gone “above and beyond to reduce their environmental footprint.”
Among the sustainability initiatives at the Manchester venue are it being fully powered by renewable energy and featuring smart systems designed to minimise waste. Co-op Live was also recognised for its commitment to social impact and accessibility. Notable features include hearing support, gender-neutral toilets, multi-faith spaces, a quiet room, and a dog-friendly area.
The A Greener Arena certification comes shortly after the arena pledged £1 million to youth group initiatives.
Co-op Live senior vice president & general manager Guy Dunstan said, “We are incredibly proud to receive the ‘Highly Commended’ award from A Greener Future. Sustainability isn’t just a feature of Co-op Live, it’s one of our founding principles.”
In its assessment AGF said, “Co-op Live opened in 2024 as an impressive new venue fully powered by renewable electricity, and harnessing solar energy and rainwater capture in its design. Surrounding landscaping extends to a new walking route to the city centre, working in partnership with Manchester City Council and Transport for Greater Manchester to improve the public realm not just for gig-goers but also local communities.”
