Next year’s World Cup Final will stage a Super Bowl-style half-time show for the first time, Fifa announced this week.
The 48-team World Cup, co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, will run from 11 June to 19 July 2026. The final on 19 July will take place at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, home of NFL teams New York Giants and New York Jets.
Fifa president Gianni Infantino confirmed that the governing body of world football will collaborate with Coldplay and the international education and advocacy organisation Global Citizen to curate the 15-minute performance and select performers.
Infantino said the half-time show, which will be co-produced by Global Citizen, would be part of a series of events celebrating the World Cup’s climax. During the tournament’s final weekend, a fan festival will take over New York City’s Times Square.
“This will be a historic moment for the Fifa World Cup and a show befitting the biggest sporting event in the world,” said Infantino.
