No more folded bills and loose coins for Sound City visitors this year. The Liverpool music, film and creative tech festival has gone cashless for its 2014 event.
 
ZNAP, a global mobile business platform, hopes to improve the Sound City experience by offering mobile payment services.
 
To use ZNAP at Sound City, ticketholders must download the app (available from the Google Play or Apple App stores) and register their credit or debit card details. Once they have arrived at the festival, they can pair their near field communication (NFC) wristbands with the ZNAP app.
 
Wherever a ZNAP sign is displayed, punters can tap their wristbands on the NFC reader to pay.
 
ZNAP made its initial debut at Sound City New York this March. For its Liverpool festival, Sound City has secured ZNAP in eight bars and one fixed concession stand across six venues.
 
“We take pride in celebrating and championing innovation, so partnering with ZNAP to offer our customers innovative technology that improves the overall festival experience is a perfect fit,” said Sound City’s Laurence Fenlon.
 
Liverpool Sound City runs 1-3 May.
