Live event equipment supplier Star Events Group provided the front of house structure and staging for ‘Silence in the Square’ – a two-minute silence at Trafalgar Square in London, on 11 November, marking the 95th anniversary of the World War One armistice.

Star Events Group was contracted by production services company SW19 to supply a 10m x 8m mobile stage, which played host to live performances from actor Adrian Lester, X Factor group Next of Kin, tenor Paul Potts, and The Poppy Girls, whose fathers are all servicemen.

The mobile stage was built in three hours and the quick de-rig of the stage ensured Trafalgar Square was clear within a few hours of the event finishing.

“It’s the right tool for the job. We only get from 6pm the night before to build the entire site, so delays are not an option and the 10 x 8 is just so fast on the in,” said production manger at SW19 Charles Ellery.
