Music and sports events producer Liz Hobbs Group (LHG) has been selected to provide the entertainment for the UK’s first dedicated mud running festival.

Airfield Anarchy, based on an old WW2 airfield, will host the obstacle race.

The two-day event kicks off on 13 June 2015, with an estimated 6,000 runners set to tackle a 5km and 10km route, with the addition of the 10-mile extended course for those still standing. Entrants can expect to wade through mud pits, attempt the arm-wrenching monkey bars, scramble through nets and overcome walls you didn’t think were possible.

The event has partnered with LHG to offer the first mud running festival weekend, featuring free camping, parking, and entertainment with headline acts and goodie bags.

“We are very excited to be working with Airfield Anarchy on creating a fantastic festival event for the runners and spectators to enjoy – especially in our home town of Newark,” said Liz Doogan-Hobbs MBE. “These races give people the opportunity to do something out of the ordinary be it for their own personal satisfaction or for their chosen charity”.

LHG has announced that Eastbourne blues-rock band Toploader will headline the festival. Music from new and upcoming artists will also be featured at the BBC Introducing stage.
