Brighton & Hove Pride concluded this past weekend, 3-5 August, and the organisers have revealed that the 2018 event was its biggest ever.

Over 450,000 people visited Brighton & Hove across the weekend, attending the Community Parade as well as the Pride festival in Preston Park.

The festival included a Sunday rainbow family-friendly day, LOVEBN1FEST, for the first time. It was capped off with performances by Nile Rodgers and Chic, as well as Jess Glynne.

The main stage was headlined by Britney Spears, performing the first show of her European ‘Piece of Me’ tour, and watched by a crowd of 55,000.

Managing director of Brighton Pride CIC Paul Kemp said: “Brighton Pride attracts a large crowd from Brighton & Hove and further afield to enjoy the city and its beaches, to see the parade and take part in the Festival.

“We are so pleased that our event brings a shared economic benefit to the city, to the tune of more than £18m.

“We want to work even more closely with partners and businesses under a city-wide plan for major events, to share the rewards and the responsibilities for keeping Brighton & Hove safe, clean and welcoming to visitors and residents alike.”
