GL events will once again be supporting The Open this summer, providing temporary infrastructure solutions at the 148th Championship, at Royal Portrush, 14-21 July.

This installation builds on the long partnership between The R&A and GL events UK, underlining the event company’s reputation in the top tier of international golf market.

As part of GL event’s growing brief with The R&A, the business will deliver 11,500 seats, along with viewing and standing platforms for 3,500 spectators, across 20 grandstands at the event.

On top of this, GL events will also build The Open Clubhouse, a luxurious double-deck players’ facility, featuring physio, gym, barber shop, dining, changing facilities, lounges, and viewing balcony. This facility will include a separate creche, to be utilised by players’ families and children.

Finally, GL events will be providing leader boards and players’ walkways, including the 1st tee players’ walkway, and a 112m-long walkway connecting the players’ facility with the 1st tee, putting green and practice ground.

“It’s one again our honour to be working with this prestigious event and delivering some of the best infrastructure to be found at any event, anywhere on the planet,” said Scott Jameson, GL event UK group managing director. “We’ve once again extended our footprint at the event to include the stunning players’ facility, supplementing our luxurious seating and experience-enhancing walkways, and viewing platforms. This is our company at its very best.”
