Cardiff’s 2018 Winter Wonderland outdoor event is expected to be its biggest ever, following last year’s record-breaking attendance.

2018’s Winter Wonderland will feature a covered ice rink that can accommodate around 300 skaters, as well as an extensive fairground with big wheel, rides, stalls and an authentic alpine village featuring a Bierkeller.

The rink was put together by events specialists 11th Hour, who are responsible for all aspects of construction, maintenance and staffing. The company owns a comprehensive fleet of generators, enabling it to eliminate the need for sub-contractors. This gives complete control over power to the site, increasing efficiency and reducing the event’s carbon footprint.

The rink will feature accessibility sessions in order to make sure that the widest possible range of customers can enjoy the ice.

11th Hour director John Davies explains: “It’s important to us that everyone in the community can join in the fun, so the dedicated accessibility sessions widen our scope. We’ve consulted carefully over the most effective way of meeting the needs of the widest constituency possible.

During these periods, lighting will remain static, amplified sound level will be reduced and the rink’s capacity will be decreased to allow those in need of extra support to enjoy their experience to the full.”
