Wayne Hemingway MBE, co-founder of British fashion brand Red or Dead and founder of Vintage By Hemingway festival has been confirmed as a panellist for the Event Production Show’s (EPS) popular Access Sessions.
Hemingway MBE will take part in a debate focusing on the gentrification of festivals.
With a hugely successful career spanning the fashion, housing, urban design and festival industries, Hemingway will draw on his experiences launching the Vintage Festival, The Festival of Thrift, the Classic Car Boot Sale and some exciting new national initiatives to spark what promises to be a lively debate.
The gentrification of festivals is an event industry ‘hot topic’ and the Access Sessions will explore whether or not the introduction of designated VIP areas, luxury showers and toilets, technology charging stations and similar ‘glamping’ amenities are beneficial to a festival’s reputation.
Are they too much of a drastic change from the artistic, alternative ethos traditionally associated with outdoor festivals or simply a natural evolution that appeals to a more widespread audience? That is a likely key question for Hemingway and his fellow panellists who will take to the Main Stage on 19 February, at 11am.
Event director Liz Agostini, adds: “We are delighted to announce Wayne as a guest panellist for one of the Show’s Access Sessions and fully expect it to be a hotly anticipated debate. Each year, we strive to create content that is challenging, educational and most importantly, relevant to our diverse audience. We are pleased to make this announcement and look forward to revealing further information about this year’s exciting programme.”
Five Access Sessions will take place at the Event Production Show, which runs 18-19 February at Olympia, London, including a discussion on ‘The Importance of Opening and Closing Ceremonies to the Cultural Heritage and Legacy of Large Sporting Events’. Further debates and discussions will be staged in the seminar theatre.
