Access All AreasJust over two weeks to go before Torquay welcomes Grinagog Festival, a new music festival taking place in multiple venues throughout the town.
From organisers Continental Drifts, who brought you Glastonbury’s Shangri La, comes this brand new ‘No Mud Guaranteed’ festival, with over 200 acts over the weekend (7-9 April) including Akala, Flava D, Sam and The Womp, Ratboy, Congo Natty, Arni (The Vaccines) and Son Of Dave.
“All my life I’ve looked at Torquay and seen it as one humongous, great festival site with no mud. The place is the ultimate festival venue, and I should know because I’ve started loads of festivals,” said Chris Tofu from Continental Drifts, who will also DJ at the festival.
“We’re bringing together all the amazing promoters and cultural workers who are in the town and the surrounding area into one big pot to create a cultural explosion that we hope can really be a place-maker for this town.”
The festival will include street performers, art installations, workshops and other diverse activities across Torquay’s venues, from Torre Abbery to nightclubs next to the ocean.
Torbay’s mayor, Gordon Oliver commented: “Continental Drifts has been procured through a rigorous tender process, and they bring a wealth of experience in the festival market, ensuring that we host a high-quality event. We are particularly excited to offer the residents in Torbay something very unique in the south-west and I believe this festival will do this.”
