Sound City’s conference will partner with Primavera Sound, and feature speakers including The Fall’s singer Mark E. Smith, Ramones manager Danny Fields and James Barton, creator of Cream.

The event, in its eight year, will take place at Rum Warehouse at The Titanic Hotel, Stanley Dock.

This year’s conference site will be a festival in itself with live bands performing, a VIP showcase and boats that feature live music.

“With our music festival growing in size and scale this year, we didn’t want to leave the conference behind,” said head of marketing and sales Alex Simmonds. “The move to The Rum Warehouse means the conference is right next door to the festival site. The space itself is also much bigger and more diverse meaning we can be more creative with this year’s conference and ultimately book bigger names.”

Sound City has also announced a partnership with its Mediterranean cousin – Primavera Pro (27-30 May). This means they’re offering discounted tickets to the Primavera Conference for all delegates who attend Sound City.

Having taken the Wombats, Miles Kane and The Whip stateside to play their first US shows at SXSW, helped Sentric, Silent Sleep, Baltic Records and the Anfield Wrap expand their business by taking part in its initiatives.

The Sound City festival has generated over £16m for the regional and UK business economy, whilst shooting some of the regions talent to international fame.

Taking place from 21- 22 May, the music conference will feature leading figures in the industry. The key theme for 2015 is the notion of The Unsung Hero.

Dave Pichilingi, CEO of Sound City, said: ‘We all know the names of the people who are the supposed Godfathers and saviours of rock and roll; Elvis, The Beatles, The Stones, The Sex Pistols, the list goes on. What about those who lie in the murky shadows? Those artists and individuals who single handedly helped to shape and change the direction of rock and roll forever but have never really been recognised.  What about their journeys?  These are the stories that we want to hear. These are the stories that need to be told.  For your delight and delectation, Sound City presents The Unsung Heroes!’

Liverpool Sound Conference takes place on the 21 and 22 May 2014. Liverpool Sound City’s music festival takes place 22-24 May.
