Integrated event production company Smyle has secured the contract to produce the opening and closing ceremonies at The 2014 Ryder Cup, which takes places at Gleneagles, Scotland, 23-28 September.

Smyle produced the ceremonies at The 2010 Ryder Cup held at The Celtic Manor Resort.

The company will be responsible for show creation and production, technical delivery, event staging and set design for the opening ceremony on Thursday 25 September and the closing ceremony on Sunday 28 September.

“It is anticipated that 45,000 spectators will attend The Ryder Cup each day with a global audience of over 500 million watching on television,” said Smyle’s events director, Dominic Thomas-Smith. “Complex live experiences, like the opening and closing ceremonies, are what Smyle thrives on delivering – we are proud to be involved with the event once again, and to be associated with such a key fixture in the global sporting calendar.”

Edward Kitson, Ryder Cup match director, added: “We are delighted to have Smyle on board once again as out ceremony production partner, after the success at the 2010 event. They are able to support our various internal, sponsor and broadcast stakeholders’ requirements while maintaining the highest standards of creative delivery and execution in this event set-up.”

Smyle will be working in conjunction with Sky Sports on the show production.
