Jools Butterfield, the organiser of Lovebox Festival, has published a bold statement on the festival website to confirm the move to Brockwell Park in 2018.

“We’ve been throwing London’s best party in Victoria Park since 2005 and made some incredible memories along the way. Last year 80,000 of you joined us on both days of to help celebrate our 15th birthday. We came, we saw, we conquered.”

Commenting on the move after 13 years at Victoria Park, the organiser said: “Lovebox plans to cross the river for our 16th chapter to our brand new home in the beautiful Brockwell Park, and you’re all invited to help us throw the housewarming party to end all housewarming parties.”

Lovebox founder said the move marks an “exciting new chapter in Lovebox’s colourful history”.

“Located just a short walk from Brixton station our new home will be a piece of cake to navigate, wherever you live in the city. We hope you join us for our next chapter – it wouldn’t be the same without you,” Butterfield enthused.

Lovebox was launched in 2002, and its first home was Clapham Common. It saw 10,000 people on the day, and the next year the festival attracted 20,000. “A combination of solid musical reputation and a complete lack of inner London park festivals proved a potent recipe,” the organiser has explained.

In 2005, Lovebox moved to Victoria Park and spread itself over two days to become the festival we all know.

Lovebox’s sister festival, Citadel, was launched in 2015 at Victoria Park.

Lovebox 2018 will open on 13-14 July, and Citadel 2018 will take place on 15 July. The full line-up will follow shortly.
