The seventh annual Knight of Illumination (KOI) Awards was held at London’s Troxy venue last Sunday (3 October).

The KOI Awards provide industry recognition for the achievements of creative and technical expertise in lighting design, video, graphic and projection display across a range of entertainment disciplines including theatre, television and events.

As one of the ceremony’s headline sponsors, Hawthorn provided technical production for the night. Hawthorn has provided the technical backbone for the awards every year since the first ceremony seven years ago.

Hawthorn’s high-spec, low-carbon lighting package included a range of Clay Paky K10 and K20 B-eye fixtures, Alpha Spot 800 profiles and Sharpy washes, complimented by Ayrton Magic panel-R’s.

The rig was operated from a GrandMA full-size console to create a variety of looks and different atmospheres needed to differentiate the various performances and awards ceremony. Curved truss was used on stage to create lighting towers for the Ayrton panels. Adding to Troxy’s art deco look, tiered staging, sets and curved stage-stairs created an extravagant experience for the audience of lighting designers, creative and technicians.

The 2014 KOI Awards event was held on the first night of PLASA London, taking place at Excel London from 3 to 8 October.
