Access speaks to the CEO of Freedomes Adam Lyczakowski on the company’s forward thinking of temporary structures
Tell us a little more about Freedomes
We provide event domes, exclusive and unique structures that create an incredible sense of space. Our dome tents offer a particularly ingenious solution for live events due to their elegant yet modern shape, which allows for almost unlimited ideas of space adaptation. From an open stage to a blacked-out interior perfect for immersive 3D projections – our domes offer an event space for customers who want to go beyond standard solutions and give their brand a distinctive voice.
What kind of events do you provide for?
Our dome tents are such a flexible and adaptable solution that they can be conveniently used regardless of the event’s purpose, turnout, location or design. Freedome’s structures vary with size ranging from 30 to 1000 sqm and can accommodate from low-volume up to mass-scale events. We can also combine our event tents creating fantastic multi-dome constructions with tunnel connections. That is why our spherical domes can be exquisite festival and concert arenas, trade show and exhibition pavilions, conference venues, sponsor lounges, brand activation or product launch areas as well as pop- up shops and restaurants.
What is the largest-scale job you’ve worked on?
Over the years, we have worked on a good number of large-scale projects. Ones that have stood out as logistical and time-management challenges were Google for Education Roadshow and Renault Z.E Roadshow, which had over 15 locations across the UK, including some challenging event spaces such as Covent Garden in London. With short intervals and large distances between the destinations, we proved that our domes are a top choice as relatively large functional spaces that could be built in a matter of hours. We can also single out the use of our Freedome 110 for Lady Gaga’s secret intimate show on the rooftop of London’s West eld and ve of our domes for the Star Wars Galactic Experience – a fantastic interactive experience with a 360° cosmic projection in anticipation of the Star Wars: The Force Awakens premiere.
What does 2017 hold for Freedomes?
We believe that our Fulldome 360° spherical projections inside dome structures will be a hot trend not only in 2017, but in the years to follow. With the growing importance of multimedia in our every day life, the possibility to get event participants immersed in a 360° virtual reality is exactly what our customers are now looking for. We are offering a complete, turnkey event solution for creating incredibly immersive spaces, starting with experience conceptualization, content creation and obviously supply and assembly of the structure and projection equipment.
Also, our customers from the event industry are drawing greater importance to innovative branding solutions. We are receiving more and more sophisticated and ingenious ideas as to the use of space on the outer cover of our domes for branding purposes.
What are the challenges you are often faced within your sector?
To the industry and to customers comes the risk from manufacturers who don’t observe adequate production standards. We believe we need to make customers aware that temporary structures ought to be bought or rented only from reputable providers who can guarantee their stability and durability with valid static calculations and material certifications.
What does the future hold for your sector?
The second direction will be towards complete event solutions. It will not only be about the space itself, but about providing the space that serves a specific purpose; whether it’s a product launch with 360° immersive projections, a conference space with separate breakout rooms or corporate road show where complete logistics services and quick assembly/derig are part of the package.
