The Event Services and Suppliers Association (ESSA) is offering members General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) learning modules via its e-learning portal. The information, developed and delivered by The Virtual College, includes a free overview module called ‘Introduction to GDPR’.

ESSA director Andrew Harrison says: “With GDPR enforcement fast approaching, many SME’s are concerned that they don’t have the time, knowledge or confidence to ensure their compliance with the new regulations. In response we have added these new and accredited courses to help our members identify, and make, the essential changes to ensure their businesses are prepared for the implementation of GDPR.”

The e-learning portal also features the more detailed module ‘The Essentials of GDPR’, which is available for a nominal fee of £25 and goes into much greater depth and detail of data control under GDPR, how this differs from the Data Protection Act.

Harrison adds: “For any member remotely concerned about the ramifications of GDPR, I would strongly recommend taking the free module and seeking out the GDPR advice from the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO). Members needing more information and a tool kit to equip themselves to manage and ensure compliance will be well served by the more detailed ‘Essentials of GDPR’ course.”
