Wilko Johnson’s last scheduled performance takes place at Bingley Music Live this weekend.

The former Dr Feelgood/Blockheads guitarist/songwriter, who was diagnosed with terminal cancer in January, has remained healthy enough to undertake a series of recent performances.

“What’s been pretty good is we did the Farewell Tour earlier in the year and then I retired, but I didn’t like that much,” Johnson said. “Then summer came along and the festivals started coming in and I thought, well, I’m not too ill and if I can’t make it then the show will still go on.”

Bingley Music Live, which takes place from Friday 30 August to Sunday 1 September, also features turns from Primal Scream, CHIC feat. Nile Rodgers, The Human League, The Cribs and Katy B.

Johnson, whose choppy guitar style influenced everyone from The Clash and The Stranglers to Alex Turner and Franz Ferdinand, plays the main stage on Saturday.
