Nick de Bois, chair of the Events Industry Board, has called on agency leaders to step forward and articulate pre-Brexit concerns. He made his address at the annual EVCOM member’s conference.

De Bois noted the progress of the Events Industry Board since its inception and called on agency leaders to actively participate in the work of three new advisory groups set up to look at specific areas of concern.

He said “The live events sector is recognised by government as a major contributor to the UK’s thriving creative industries and as a driver of significant business visitors to the UK. We need to press home this advantage with Brexit fast approaching so it is vital that in order to take full opportunity of life outside the EU the events sector ensures that government policy reflects their concerns and priorities. To do that, I hope that this conference is the beginning of that wider support and engagement from the sector.”

Dale Parmenter, CEO of full creative agency drp and EVCOM board member, said: “The Event Industry Board is a great opportunity for our industry to collaborate and advise Government, for all our benefit. We need more event professionals and agencies to step up and engage with the EIB to help shape our industry”.

Chaired by Parmenter, the group was joined by representatives of Sledge, Top Banana, MCI, First, Pure, and The Turner Agency.
