Numerous bands and industry sources have reported that Alt-Fest is cancelled.

Alt-Fest 2014 is billed to take place between 15-17 August in Kettering. Goth rocker Marilyn Manson last night listed his appearance at the festival as ‘cancelled’ on his website.

Since then, Rob Ferguson, owner of Transcend Music who has five bands lined up for the event, Tweeted: “What a surprise. Alt Fest is no more……. I feel extremely sorry for all those who will undoubtedly lose money. Bad times”.

There is no official word yet from the festival, whose Twitter account was last active on 29 July, encouraging Welsh fans to organise travel to the event.

The event was billed as the first major UK festival that placed goth and industrial in pride of place.

UPDATE: Alt-Fest’s organisers have now released a statement, saying: “We at Alt-Fest HQ would like to sincerely apologise for our silence over the last 24 hours. Currently we are working all hours to deal with some extremely challenging & stressful issues for Alt-Fest.

“We will be able to provide an official statement with full information before Monday and answer any questions you may have at that time. We want you to know that we have been doing everything we can to take the right steps for you: our fans, friends & customers – we assure you we only have your best interests at heart.”
