London’s Allianz Park, the first stadium to achieve a BREAAM Excellent rating, won the Sustainability Award at the fifth annual Stadium Business Awards.

Set on 26 acres, the Park holds events ranging from sport to team building and family fun days.

The award recognised Allianz Park’s ‘four pillar’ approach to sustainability, which incorporates energy efficiency, biodiversity enhancement, transport and waste management, and recycling.

The Park achieved the BREAAM rating in March 2013.

“We’re honoured to have this award,” said events director Neil Ormondroyd. “It is a fantastic achievement for us as we strive to be the UK’s most sustainable and energy efficient stadium.”

The Stadium Business Awards recognise leadership, innovation and achievement in the delivery, operation and management of sports facilities around the world.
