‘People, Planet, Profit – Part II’ will return to the Event Production Show (EPS) this year at Olympia, London.

Taking place on the Main Stage at 12noon on 19 February, the session will focus on a brand new green initiative being put forward by Powerful Thinking’s Chris Johnson.

The initiative – part of festival charity Energy Revolution – aims to fund a one-megawatt festival wind turbine within the next five years. It has the back of more than ten festivals so far, including Bestival, Camp Bestival, Boomtown, Secret Garden Party, Wilderness, Shambala Festival, and Love Saves the Day.

Kendall Calling’s Ben Robinson, Ollie Stroud from Secret Garden Party, MAMA & Company’s Tim Harvey, and Boomtown’s Chris Rutherford will join Johnson on stage.

The Energy Revolution works towards an energy efficient, low carbon and cost-effective future for festivals. The charity plans on crowdsourcing donations from festival car pass buyers to account for their travel emissions, as well as investing in clean energy to tackle climate change.

“Audience travel makes up around 70% of a festival’s carbon footprint,” said Johnson. “As a festival community of over 200 summer festivals and two million festivalgoers, this unprecedented project could account for millions of miles of travel, and turn a problem into a solution.

“Renewable energy is the best chance we have to reduce global emissions to safe levels.”

‘People, Planet, Profit – Part II’ is the penultimate Access Session of the show.

The Event Production Show is co-located this year with International Confex and takes place 18-19 February. Visitors can register to attend here.
